Growing my brand from 7 to 8-figures (Day 1)

(An open diary of growing an eCom brand, while sharing the lessons and failures along the way)

Hey there,

Welcome back to the Content Canvas! It's been a while since my last newsletter. A lot has happened - like, A TON.

But I'm back now, and honestly, it feels good to be writing to you again.

So, what's been up, you might ask? (I know no one asked, but I'll tell you anyway)

Over the last 8 months, I've been building a new eCommerce brand in stealth mode, which we managed to grow to multiple 7-figures pretty fast (this is now my main focus)

And that... obviously comes with all kinds of challenges:

  • Scaling ad spend while maintaining efficiency

  • Supply chain and product shortages

  • Recruiting

  • All the good stuff...

That's exactly what I want to share with you in the coming newsletters. Right now, most of my time is spent on content - ads, organic, email, and everything in between.

We're aiming to hit 8-figures in revenue by the end of the year, and that's definitely not just a walk in the park. You need to exponentially increase your creative output, content, testing frequency... and while I'd say I've cracked the code on some parts, I'm still figuring out others.

Now, I don't want you to finish this newsletter feeling like you didn't get any value from it. So here's a little media buying technique that unlocked more ad spend for us, at better efficiency than before.

Quick context: We had been running lowest cost campaigns to test creative and then scaling them in Cost Caps. Everything on ABO.

One day I was scrolling through Twitter and noticed somebody talking about taking your best creatives and putting them into a CBO campaign with a min ROAS optimization setting. At first, it didn't make sense to me - we already had cost caps cranking, and I hadn't found much success with CBOs in the past. But like any other (good) media buyer, I thought "f*ck it, let me try."

So I did. I loaded up all our creatives into a CBO campaign, split out by statics and videos, set a super high budget, a decent Min ROAS (similar to our cost cap), and let it rip.

And... I'm not really sure how, but it overperformed everything else by like 35%.

So there's your trick - test it out and see if it works for you too.

Catch you in the next one,

Best
